It’s Falls Prevention Awareness Day 2015

Today, September 23, 2015, the first day of fall,  marks the 8th annual Falls Prevention Awareness Day (FPAD).  This year’s theme, Take a Stand to Prevent Falls, aims to raise awareness in how to prevent fall-related injuries in older adults.

The event seeks to raise awareness about how to prevent fall-related injuries among older adults which are a leading cause of death by injury in individuals over the age of 65.

Falls can be the result of a number of physical and cognitive factors that often accompany aging and lead to a loss of balance such as poor eyesight, prescription medications, spatial confusion or even dehydration.

Here is an important infographic created by the National Council on Aging to help educate about fall prevention. Please read it and share! You could save a life. #FPAD15
